Comprehensive Bio
Dr. Shaun D. Rodgers is a member of the Division of Pediatric Neurosurgery at Cohen Children’s Medical Center (CCMC) and serves as the Director of Pediatric Surgical Epilepsy. He has been instrumental in developing one of the region’s premier epilepsy surgery programs with Stereotactic Electroencephalography (SEEG), ROSA robotic platform, Laser Interstitial Thermal Therapy (LITT), Responsive Neurostimulation (RNS), and Vagal Nerve Stimulation (VNS) for medication-resistant epilepsy.
In addition to epilepsy, Dr. Rodgers’ expertise includes brain tumors, spinal deformity, Chiari malformation, tethered cord, hydrocephalus, and skull base surgery. His academic contributions include multiple peer-reviewed publications with a focus on pediatric brain tumors, epilepsy, and spine surgery. Dr. Rodgers is also an active member of the skull base team in pediatrics and adults for complex intradural and extradural tumors.
Dr. Rodgers is board certified in both adult and pediatric neurosurgery. He completed his Neurosurgery Residency at NYU Langone Medical Center, including a chief residency year at Manhattan Veterans Hospital and Bellevue Hospital. His training included focused work in skull base surgery, pediatric spinal deformity, and neuromodulation. He completed his Pediatric Neurosurgery Fellowship at Ann & Robert H. Lurie Children’s Hospital of Chicago before joining Long Island Neurosurgical Associates (LINA) in 2015. Dr. Rodgers is a graduate of Georgetown University School of Medicine, where he earned his degree cum laude.
Dr. Rodgers currently serves as the Pediatric Neurosurgery Trauma Liaison for the American College of Surgeons–verified Level 1 Pediatric Trauma Center at CCMC, ensuring coordinated neurosurgical care for injured children. He is a member of the AANS, CNS, ASPN, ISPN, NASS, and NASBS. He actively lectures internationally for brain tumors and epilepsy.
In addition to his pediatric practice, Dr. Rodgers participates in transitional neurosurgery initiatives at Long Island Jewish Medical Center, supporting adolescents and young adults with childhood-onset neurosurgical conditions.
Dr. Rodgers has been recognized by Castle Connolly as a “Top Doctor,” reflecting his clinical excellence and dedication to patient-centered care. He serves as a mentor to medical students and neurosurgical residents advancing the future of healthcare.
Dr. Rodgers is extremely active in his personal life. He enjoys biking, skiing, volleyball, surfing, and swimming. He has competed in multiple triathlons. He enjoys raising his three children in the vibrant city of Manhattan.
